New Stuff

Well, J started Junior High.. WOW! I feel old! Plus his feet are bigger than mine! My little girl will be starting preschool and she is a little scared. The other two boys are enjoying their time off track from school and playing video games. M is going crazy trying to keep up with all the "to do" items that are on her list each day and I am just trying to keep up with work, my 3 callings and family at the same time.

What a great life!

Turkey Ball or Basket Turkey?

This morning I again woke up early for the annual tradition of playing basketball with old friends. It was a celebration of getting old while still thinking that we can play like we used to in the old days. We were also hoping that running around so much would help us loose some pounds and make room for the pending turkey surge. It was fun!
The group that showed up were: John Thorpe, David Thorpe, Mike Maynard, Paul Stokes, Chris Nordfelt, Lantz Nordfelt, and their families of course. Thanks guys, it was a fun pre-Thanksgiving ritual!

Ball and Chain

Well, this year for Halloween Melissa got the chance to call me her "ball and chain." We went to our annual Ward Carnival and had a picture taken with the family. The kids were dressed in their Halloween best and the photographer said we had to look the part so he made sure the witch was looking over us and had the chain wrapped around my neck. Now, Melissa had full control of me and I had no where go, but I seem to be enjoying it and the kids did too.

The Carnival is always fun, especially tasting everyone's favorite dessert that they choose to bring. The Pumpkin dessert was really good, THANKS Jon! Mmmmmm.

Let's face it..

Well, lets face it. I’m not good a keeping a blog but I do like to update it when I get a chance. So, since it has almost been a year I thought that I should write something. I have been keeping up with Facebook, probably because I don’t have to type to much. Facebook.com has become an addiction for me, but I love finding people and staying in touch with people that I haven’t seen in 20 years. So maybe, this addiction of trying to keep up with friends will give me more of a desire to blog… or maybe not.

Since the last time I wrote.. I lost 40 pounds, celebrated many family birthdays, took several golfing trips, our family went to our condo in Midway, Utah, had a couple mini reunions with high school friends, Andrew broke his elbow, I got a new job, the boys started school, Melissa’s bow business has taken off, and I finally updated this blog. Wow what an exciting life. :)

Let’s see how long it takes me to update this time.

Food Critic

With Thanksgiving behind us I thought I would like to revive the food topic by critiquing some food establishments. My friend Joe blogs about making food but I like eating food. One of my favorite spots in Utah to eat at is Fillet of Phillies at 43 East 5900 South in Murray Utah. Wow, do they make a good Philly Cheese steak and the fries are no t bad either, hot and greasy. When ever I get a craving for a Philly cheese steak I try to head over there. Phil Sainsbury owns the place and he has done a good job at making a well love America sandwich.

Today however, I was in the mood to let someone else decide. So I asked my buddy John to pick a place to go. He picked Sampan in Jordan Landing it is located at 3778 West Centerview Way, right by the movie theaters. Someone at work had recommended the place to John so that where we went. The atmosphere was nice and the service was fast. I ordered the Sweet and Sour chicken, how can you go wrong with that. I got the egg drop soup, which I thought wasn't thick enough, but it tasted good. When my food arrived it was good and hot, it tasted really good but I was expecting the chicken to be rolled up and battered like it is at most places. This chicken was pounded down and then battered like a fish. It was hot but not very moist and a real crusty batter. The steamed rice I got was good but also not very moist. The egg roll was not bad, just what I expected. I walked out paying a little over ten dollars with a two dollar tip and then I thought to myself, "I shouldn't have tipped so much." I felt I paid way to much for the meal I received. So, over all if I was craving Chinese food and I had just came out of the movie theater, then I would probably go there but I would not be thinking of that place as the perfect place to go for Chinese.

Halloween07

For this Halloween Joseph was Darth Vader, Christian was Jango Fett, Andrew was the Shadow Power Ranger and Sariah was a little lamb. AHHH cute. We went to my work and the kids scored! Then we all went over to the trunk or treat at the church and their bags were almost overloaded. We went home and I gave out candy while the kids went around to some friends houses. Then we had Dad come over and he forgot to tell us that my brother Jason's family was coming over so we were surprised by their visit, it was fun though, the boys love playing with their cousins.
